Escape to World's Best Ski Locations, Via Ridge Ski Racing Team

Raise funds for the Ridge ski team and start thinking about snow with Friday evening film.

For the second year, the Ridge High School Ski Racing Team will host its annual kickoff fundraiser with a showing the Warren Miller 64th's action ski film at 7 p.m. on Friday in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Ridge High School, 268 S. Finley Ave.

This year Mountain Creek Ski Resort has kindly agreed to sponsor the event, a fundraiser for the highly-placing Ridge ski racing team.

The proceeds from the event will go to the Ridge High School’s Ski Team fund.

Warren Miller Entertainment is a respected name in action sports cinematography, capturing the best of winter sports since 1949. "Ticket to Ride," this season’s production, will give filmgoers access to the most sought-after destinations for the world's skiers, including the Alaskan Tordrillos, Iceland’s Troll Peninsula, the fjords of Greenland and the expansive Big Sky country of Montana, to name a few. 

The film showcases world-class athletes such as Sean Pettit, Ted Ligety, Seth Westcott and Jess McMillian, all leaving tracks beneath, and above, the world’s wildest terrain, according to information from the ski racing team.

The film is rated G and is 101 minutes in duration.

Mountain Creek Ski Resort will be present at the showing selling some discounted season passes and triple play tickets. A resort representative will be present to answer any questions about Mountain Creek and will be raffling off some lift tickets. 

Bake and ski item sale and raffle for Giants tickets and YMCA membership

In addition to the film, at intermission there will be a bake and ski item sale, as well as a raffle for some wonderful prizes. The Somerset Hills YMCA has donated a six-month teen membership and a local resident has donated four Giants tickets with parking pass.  

The ski team is part of the New Jersey Interscholastic Ski Racing Association.  Last year the girls captured second place in the state championship, while the boys placed third.

The film is a way to take a cinematic journey and celebrate the start of the season at one of the 200-plus film screenings nationwide, according to information from the ski team.
