Bernards Blasts Bound Brook for Sixth Win of Season

Team hasn't been defeated in October games for three years, coach says.

The Bernards High football team kept the scoreboard flipping at Friday night's homecoming game held at Olcott Field against Bound Brook.

The Mounties beat Bound Brook 56-14 to add to the festivities, bringing the team's record up to 6-1.

Head Coach Jon Simoneau pointed out that the team now has been undefeated for all of the dozen games played during the past three Octobers. He added that the team has a bye for next week, and now is 7th seeded for the playoffs.

Homecoming winners

This year's homecoming team was Lindsey Cunningham, Stephani Desiderio and Jorge Fernandez.

The Mountaineers next are scheduled to play Governor Livingston from Berkeley Heights at home on senior night at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8.

The team spread out its scoring against Bound Brook last week, scoring 22 points the first quarter, folllowed by 7, 13 and 14 points for the next three quarters. Bound Brook scored 7 points apiece in the first and third quarters.
