Somerset County Election Administrator Named First African American NJAEO President

At the 77th Annual Conference of the New Jersey Association of Election Officials (NJAEO) on March 18, Somerset County Election Administrator Jerry L. Midgette became the first African American to be elected as the association’s president. A former election lawyer, he also is the first election official from Somerset County to be elected president of the NJAEO, according to nj.com.

“It is truly a great professional honor for me to be elected unanimously as president of the NJAEO by my friends and colleagues,” said Midgette, a resident of Franklin Park. “It is with a profound sense of gratitude, pride and humility that I accede to this leadership role of great responsibility,”according to nj.com.
