Weapons Indictment Returned for Man Cops Sought in Bedminster

Charges stem from an alleged incident that led to a manhunt near Trump National Golf Club.

A Hunterdon County man was indicted Friday on counts of theft and possession of a weapon in connection with a December incident in which he fled the scene of an accident on Route 78 and was the subject of a manhunt that ended at the Trump National Golf Club.

Daryl Haluszczak, 29, of Raritan, was indicted on charges of theft, unlawful possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a loaded shotgun.

According to documents from the grand jury in Hunterdon County, Haluszczak . This led to the indictment on third-degree theft because the weapons were stolen.

The weapons, the documents said, were valued at greater than $500 and less than $75,000.

Haluszczak, the documents said, was indicted on the charge of unlawful possession because he had not obtained a firearms purchaser identification card to carry those weapons.

In addition, the final charge was based on Haluszczak having two loaded guns without having obtained the firearms purchaser identification card, the documents said.

Haluszczak was arrested in early December after he allegedly took weapons from a Hunterdon County house.

Officials from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office said Haluszczak then crashed his vehicle on Interstate 78 and led authorities on a manhunt that ended near the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster.

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony Kearns III said that Haluszczak took weapons from a Readington Township home, and shots were reported to be fired on the property.

Following the crash, Kearns said, Haluszczak was involved in a motor vehicle crash and then fled the scene on foot with the weapons in his possession.

Haluszczak was taken into custody after a several-hour manhunt that included the State Police and the Somerset County SWAT team.
