The actual 2013 Bike Smart “BE SAFE, BE SEEN” program will run July 1 through August. During that time, officers will also distribute bicycle lights to cyclists seen operating without lights in accordance with New Jersey State Law.

Valentine said the program will be offered to campers enrolled in the summer recreation program as well as any local youth who want to participate. The police department asks that anyone who is not already enrolled in the summer camp and wishes to participate, pre-register by calling police at 908-766-0037 or by signing up in advance at the borough pool.

There are no fees required and pre-registration will help to adequately plan for the event, according to borough police.

The program has been offered for several years.

For more information on the program contact Patrolman Paul Kelley or Chief Valentine at 908-766-0037.
