Obituary: Ann Catherine Searing, Who Worked in Bernardsville Library

She worked at the East Hanover and Bernardsville libraries and was a member of the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church.

Ann Catherine Searing (nee Miller), 86, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 15 at her home in Basking Ridge, surrounded by her loving children. Ann was born in 1928 in Brooklyn, New York. She was the seventh of nine children of Helen and Albert Miller. She was a long time resident of Morris Plains and Far Hills. 

Ann is predeceased by her beloved husband Robert (Bob) Searing, with whom she celebrated a wonderful marriage and, in 2011, their 60th wedding anniversary. She was an incredibly dedicated and loving mother and proud grandmother who will be so dearly missed. Her life was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and friends who she loved and cherished. 

Ann worked at the East Hanover and Bernardsville libraries for many years prior to her retirement, sharing her love of books and people with the patrons and her coworkers. Ann and Bob travelled extensively with friends throughout the United States and internationally. She was a member of the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church. 

Ann is survived by her son James and his wife Gayle Goodman of Solebury, Pennsylvania; daughter Jill of Basking Ridge; daughter Lisbeth of Basking Ridge; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Martin Swanson of Simsbury, Connecticut; and daughter-in-law Elaine Searing of West Orange. Also surviving Ann are her beloved grandchildren Lisa Searing Simon and her husband Michael Simon, Jessica Searing, Ryan Swanson, William Swanson and Brittany Swanson. She is also survived by her sister Mary Wolfe and brothers Robert and Michael Miller and many loving nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends are invited to join the Searing family in celebration of Ann's wonderful life at a memorial service at the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, followed a reception at the church. Interment will be private.
