Day Six Without Power Brings Little Change

Thousands are still in the dark in the Somerset Hills area.

With almost a full week gone since Superstorm Sandy battered the area, more than 10,000 people in the Somerset Hills are without power as of Sunday morning.

In Bedminster, 1,712 are without power, down from 2,958 Saturday. In Bernardsville, 3,351 are without power, down from 3,729 Saturday.

Finally, in Bernards Township, 7,856 are without power, down from 9,221 Saturday.

These figure are as of 9 a.m. Sunday.

For up-to-date information about when power is expected to be restored and how many will remain in the dark, check out JCP&L's continuously updated restoration report by clicking here.

And tell us in the comments where you are, and whether or not you have power at this time.

Thanks. I've been refreshing the JCPL website all day to see whether the numbers are dropping/rising. About an hour ago, it was 1416. 30 minutes ago, it was down to 750ish. Most recently, it jumped back up to 1583. It is driving me insane.

I'm completely perplexed as to why King George Road has not been a priority as well as the Spring Ridge Complex. There are over 1000 units in the complex with a large number of elderly residents and not one JCP&L truck seen nor are we on the list or upcoming areas to be restored. There has to be roughly 2000 residents in the Spring Ridge community which is a 1/6 of their entire outage total after the storm. I just can't comprehend how they are prioritizing their repairs.

Most of the top of The Hills on the Schley Mountain Rd. side had power restored earlier today - Gatehouse, Crestmont Highlands, Signal Point. If you are out of town, I suggest checking with neighbors. Don't wait for a call from JCP&L! I was in their system for an automated phone call when power was restored and have not yet gotten a call.

omc... Just went out to the car to charge my phone; on Wescott Road, the units that are closer to 202 have power, but the ones closer to Robertson do not.

Thank you -- I really appreciate the update! I'm on Wentworth Rd. so I'm not sure how that is affected, but in past outages, usually my area is without power the longest.

I live in Patriot hill and there is still no power on our portion. Hamilton crest is also completely dark, as is the shopping center on the apex of the hill

Does anyone know if Potomac Dr. Has power yet
MJM November 05, 2012 at 12:47 AM
omc...looks like Cortland is on, but not the other bldgs.
Nick F. November 05, 2012 at 01:50 AM
@Ray E, I'm assuming that means Hamilton woods (across from Hamilton crest) is still out as well then?

Any word re Revere Hill in The Hills- still no power? Off Vanderveer, near Douglas Rd. Thanks for posting what neighborhoods are coming back online in the hills; we are staying with relatives and this is the best source I can find!

It's obvious JCP&L hasn't done jack to improve their response since Irene. We have lost power since last Tuesday and based on their update seems like we'll still be in the dark for at least another 3-4 days. Meanwhile, I can drive 5-min to Bridgewater and power is fully restored. How the heck does the entire Hills community lose power for a week when all the power lines are buried underground?! Clearly JCP&L are doing something wrong! Poor emergency response, lack of information, and clearly snail path restoration!!!! Same as post Irene.

Power back on in town!

I live on Washington Valley road in Right off 202. A crew was working on the mess of wires on Brown road. The foreman explained Washington Valley and some of the side streets are fed through Brown road. Basically we are screwed. Plus most of this side of Basking Ridge has well water, including myself.

CD How do you know about Signal Point?
omc November 05, 2012 at 03:16 AM
Thx - guess I will not be coming back tonight!

Just wanted to check, does Wescott Road have power? My mother-in-law is staying with us in Alpha, and I don't want her to waste gas to drive down if there is no power. Thanks.
Jamestown Road November 05, 2012 at 04:24 AM
That King George Road mess by the A&P (Dewey Meadows) must be a serious wreck. JCP&L hasn't even gone near it. I can walk a mile or two in any direction from my home an there'll be power, but not in my neighboorhood. At this rate, Crown Court Drive, Commonwealth Drive, Jametown Road, Smithfield Court, and Potomac Drive won't see power by Thanksgiving.
MJM November 05, 2012 at 07:40 AM
Carolyn, I know it's the middle of the night now, but I just woke up needing a glass of water :-) The units on Wescott closest to 202 have power; those closer to Robertson do not.

Any idea if the power is restored in The Hills - Carlisle section on Huntington Road
Carolyn Beechner November 05, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Thank you, she is in one of the corner units by Schley. She will be extremely happy!!
JJV November 05, 2012 at 12:34 PM
Anyone know if there is power in Long Meadow?
Commonwealth Drive November 05, 2012 at 01:44 PM
I keep calling jcpl to beast about king George road but the line been busy. 800-662-3115. Is that the number I should be calling??
Diane Stern November 05, 2012 at 01:51 PM
I don't know where you went in Bridgewater but power is definitely not fully restored there. Power has been out since early Monday evening in the whole Washington Valley Road corridor from 202/206 through (and including) the Martinsville section all the way down to 22. What's especially troublesome there is that most of the homes have wells that run on electricity, so if you have water you're way ahead of all of us!
Spring Ridge Resident November 05, 2012 at 01:52 PM
1-888-544-4877 This is the JCP&L number to report .
Spring Ridge Resident November 05, 2012 at 01:58 PM
Apparently you can't get a "live" person on the line @ JC. The # I posted above, which I used and spoke to someone last night, no longer goes to "people", just a vm system.
Carolyn Beechner November 05, 2012 at 02:49 PM
Just to let you know, Wynnwood section is up and running, but only on the side next to Schley. They got power back this morning which is great. Also the gas station across the street is pumping gas, but when I drove past this morning, there was a long line almost under the bridge for 287. Stay warm everyone and hopefully this will get better soon.
Caren P November 05, 2012 at 07:03 PM
@ Nick, Hamilton Woods is still out as of 2pm today. This is ridiculous. I have not seen a JCP & L truck at all.
KTG November 05, 2012 at 11:49 PM
The Cedars has power...wooo hoooo.
