Sounds Around Town Rescheduled for Next Friday, Next Rain Date 6/15

Steady rain results in Bernardsville's popular street fair and musical event being called off for this Friday.

Friday's persistent and heavy rain resulted in Bernardsville's Sounds Around Town being called off for the evening, and rescheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. next Friday, June 14.

The event — with music ranging from classical to jazz to performances by local Somerset Hills schools students — even has another rain date. If next Friday brings another rainy day in June, the new rain date is set for next Saturday night, June 15, said Joe Rossi, co-chair of Sounds Around Town.

Whatever evening it's held, the event has a wide range of music at locations around the borough, including music by students from Bernards High School and the Bernardsville Middle School to be presented at Bernardsville Centre shopping center off Route 202. Children's activities also will be held at the shopping center, he said.

Other events include an open mic to be held at the Essex Street parking lot off Claremont Road, and a wide variety of styles of music, he said.

Many of the borough's restaurants and shops will be open late that night, he said. The Bernardsville Chamber of Commerce sponsors Sounds Around Town.
