It's the fifth day after Hurricane Sandy hit the region, and more than 10,000 residents in the Somerset Hills area have no power.
Projections are still for power to return around Nov. 7 or so, as residents continue to deal with being in the dark.
Here are the figures as of 11 a.m. Saturday:
- In Bedminster, 2,958 residences are without power, down from 3,199 Friday.
- In Bernardsville, there are 3,729 without power, down from 3,865 Friday.
- In Bernards Township, there are 9,221 without power, up from 9,212 Friday.
How are you dealing with the lack of power now?

I live in the "The Hills" and it seems as if I live in "Katrina-ville." I can't believe that I am not even in the hardest struck area but it seems that nothing works in this nice community. So how good is the area that I live in if I have such a great house and school system but yet I don't have any power??? I think JCPL needs to show that they have some people that work for them with some college degrees and put the power lines underground to prevent this from ever happening again, like they do back in EUROPE!!! I don't care if you graduated from a state school or "OXFORD" like some of us and just see what makes sense and do it. Or else the americans that are hired to work for these types of places look like fools.

Why would anyone move to this community after this experience. I am moving my family out of Bedminster, out of Somerset County..... and if I can figure out how... out of New Jersey. This state has proven to be inept, incompetent, and overpaid!

Well, as a Hills resident, I am sure the rest of Bernards Twp is loving the fact that we have now joined them in "powerlessness". You never think that living in an area that has totally buried utilities could leave you without power for 5 or 6 days. Trust me, I GET that in the overall scheme of things we were lucky but really? When is someone going to rethink the infrastructure in this country? It's as if the entire country is joined by one big long extension cord. In 2012, I need to go out and buy a generator? Its about time someone in charge of this state demands some measure of accountaibilty from the utilities, whether it be gas, electric or cable. I am sure that most of us spend close to a $1,000 a month on services that are only reliable under the best conditions with no contingency plans. Everyone has the ability to poste to this page, I would rather not read about our elected Township leaders empty talk about wanting the wires out of our streets, why dont these leaders get on here and tell us what EXACTLY they are doing to get JCP&L's butt's in gear? You refer us to websites with statistics. On Friday JCP&L said there would be about 2500 customers restored in Bernards Twp. Progress at 10 PM last night was ZERO. Am I missing something here?
