Bernardsville police asking for information from anyone who may have seen related activity.
Bernardsville Borough Police are searching for whoever is responsible for 28 damaged mailboxes off Claremont Road and along Post Lane on Bernardsville mountain that were discovered and reported by residents the morning after the vandalism occurred.
Police said the criminal mischief apparently took place overnight, some time between late last Wednesday night, March 13, and early Thursday morning, March 14.
The mailboxes were at the end of driveways, and none of the residents reported seeing or hearing anything, according to the borough police report.
The mailboxes appear to have been hit with a blunt object, said Borough Patrol officer Brian Kelly. Two lamp post lights also were damaged, police said.
The vandalism is considered criminal mischief, according to police. Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call borough police at 908-766-0037.
