Bernards High Due To Reopen Friday; Later Update on Other Schools

Hazardous conditions continue after storm, but regional high school due to open Friday.

Bernards High School is scheduled to reopen on a regular schedule on Friday, although all of the regional Somerset Hills district schools remained closed as of Thursday due to hazardous conditions, particularly after an early-season snowfall.

However, according to the district website, the high school now is scheduled to open on its regular schedule on Friday.

The elementary and middle schools still are without power, the website said as of 9 a.m. on Thursday morning. A further update was promised by 5 p.m. that day.

The business area of Bernardsville now has power but I assure you that many of us residents are still without power. On Tuesday JCPL showed 2454 homes out and their published restoration plan (19-Tues., 201 - Wed., 150 - Thurs. & 84 - Fri) only adds up to 454 homes restored! This would leave 2000 remaining in the dark. Our home has been without power, heat, water, no ability to cook, for 10 days now. Power for all in Bernardsville? I'll believe it when I see it!
